Nicoll Design Chartered Architects is based in Prestwick, Ayrshire and has been trading since 1982. Our key operative is Chartered Architect Jim Nicoll RIBA ARIAS ARCUK BARCH who has specialised in the residential build sector for over 30 years.

Experience

From the age of 16 working in his fathers building company, Jim has had a complete experience of construction from the preparation of architectural drawings and office procedure to actual hands on experience on site. A year as project Architect for North Ayrshire general hospital led to final qualification and the practice started immediately on leaving Strathclyde University with prize money from various design awards from the Royal Institute of British Architects and Japanese and Bulgarian Institute of Architects and UNESCO.

Service

Over the years he has personally built dozens of properties, liaised with building inspectors, engineers, planning officers, solicitors, bank managers, NHBC control, ground investigation teams, water/electricity/telecom and gas service providers, contractors and clients. Duties have included drawing preparation, structural preparation, structural calculation, contract supervision, site agent, project management, materials selection and design problem solving.

Now, together with our professional associates, Nicoll Design specialise in all construction project types and complexity and in certification matters for all banks and building societies, supplying the Professional Consultants Certificate, previously known as an Architect Certificate, essential for lending, mortgage and sales transactions.
